Fitness Hike at Independence Grove in Libertyville this weekend

If your Memorial Day plans include dogs, brats, and brews, you might want to get a bit of “preventative” exercise before hitting the chow line.

The Lake County Forest Preserve District will be holding “Forest Fitness” on Saturday, May 28, at the Independence Grove Forest Preserve in Libertyville. Forest Fitness is a fast-paced group fitness hike, and these are held in different forest preserves in Lake County.

Intermediate Tai Chi at the Chicago Botanic Garden

Practice the art of Tai Chi in a beautiful setting, the Chicago Botanic Garden. The summer sessions of Intermediate Tai Chi and Intermediate II Tai Chi start on May 26 and runs through August 4.

Classes are held in Burnstein Hall; Intermediate Tai Chi meets from 8am to 9am, and Intermediate II meets from 9:15am to 10:15am. When weather permits, students will practice outdoors in one of the beautiful areas of the Chicago Botanic Garden.

Beginning Tai Chi at the Chicago Botanic Garden

Learn the ancient art of Tai Chi in a beautiful setting, the Chicago Botanic Garden. The summer session of Beginning Tai Chi starts on May 25 and runs through August 3. Tai Chi benefits both mind and body by improving balance and overall health. The peaceful movements encourage a positive attitude toward life in general.

GFS Pecan Pieces recalled in IL, IN, & other states due to undeclared walnuts

Nut Bar Company Inc. of Wyoming, MI, is recalling 90 cases of “GFS Pecan Pieces” (40 oz.) because they may contain undeclared walnuts rather than pecans. The product was distributed through GFS Marketplace Stores in Illinois, Indiana, and seven other states.
