Walgreens opens new flagship store in the Chicago Loop

On Tuesday Walgreens will open a new two-story, state-of-the-art store at State and Randolph at 151 N. State in Chicago’s Loop. The store will offer a number of expanded and innovative features not typically seen in a drugstore.

Trek and Danskin triathlons merge, with new date in Pleasant Prairie

The Xxtra Mile, race owners of the Trek and Danskin Women’s Triathlon Series, have announced that the two series are merging to one series under the Danskin name in 2012. For the last three years, two races were held in Pleasant Prairie, WI – the Trek Triathlon the second weekend in July and the Danskin Triathlon the third weekend in August.

The 2012 Danskin Triathlon in Pleasant Prairie is moving back one week, to August 26, due to a August 19 Danskin race in Seattle.


Winter cycling: dress for success

If bicycling is on your resolutions list, there’s no real need to wait until summer. You can ride during the winter, of course, taking safety into account. Walk with a Naturalist at Cuba Marsh on January 7

The Lake County Forest Preserves are offering another “Walk with a Naturalist” session on Saturday, January 7. These are one-hour guided nature hikes held at a different forest preserve each month.

Registration is not required. The fee is $1 for Lake County residents and $2 for non-residents.

The Jan 7 Walk with a Naturalist will be held from 9:00-10:00am at Cuba Marsh, near Barrington. The entrance and parking area are located on Cuba Road, west of Ela Road and east of Route 59.
