The Woodstock Farmers Market is one of the top rated in northern Illinois. Typically, it runs through the end of October (every Tuesday and Saturday) at the renowned town square in Woodstock, Illinois. However, as part of a trial Winters Farmers Market, this year a number of its vendors will continue to offer local produce, meats and other items from 9:00am to Noon on the first three Saturdays in November and December.

Lake County Health Department supports National Latino AIDS Awareness Day

October 15 is National Latino AIDS Awareness Day (NLAAD). This year's theme is “Save a Life, It May be your Own,” and the Lake County Health Department's STD/HIV program has scheduled opportunities for free HIV testing at several health department locations

NLAAD is a national social marketing campaign that engages the Hispanic/Latino community in HIV awareness and promotes testing, prevention and education. NLAAD takes place annually on Oct. 15, the last day of Hispanic Heritage Month, and was initiated as a response to the HIV/AIDS crisis within Hispanic/Latino communities in the U.S. and its territories:

Lake County Health Department low-cost pet vaccination clinic

Lake County residents have a convenient and affordable way to keep their pets up to date with their shots and rabies tags at a pet vaccination and microchip clinic in Round Lake on October 16.

The clinic is provided by The Lake County Health Department/Community Health Center's Animal Care and Control Program. The Animal Care and Control Program tracks pet vaccinations and rabies tags, investigates animal bites and complaints of nuisance and neglect, and impounds stray animals.
