Walk with a Naturalist at Middlefork Savanna on November 12 - Chicago wellness | Examiner.com

The Lake County Forest Preserves are offering another “Walk with a Naturalist” session on Saturday, November 12. These are one-hour guided nature hikes held at a different forest preserve each month.

The Nov 12 Walk with a Naturalist will be held from 9:00-10:00am at Middlefork Savanna in Lake Forest. The entrance and parking area are located off of Waukegan Road (Route 43), between Route 60 and Route 176.

Fitness Hike at Independence Grove in Libertyville this weekend

If your Memorial Day plans include dogs, brats, and brews, you might want to get a bit of “preventative” exercise before hitting the chow line.

The Lake County Forest Preserve District will be holding “Forest Fitness” on Saturday, May 28, at the Independence Grove Forest Preserve in Libertyville. Forest Fitness is a fast-paced group fitness hike, and these are held in different forest preserves in Lake County.

Snowshoeing at the Chicago Botanic Gardens


Snowshoeing enthusiasts have a beautiful venue this winter -- the Chicago Botanic Gardens. Weather permitting, through February 28, snowshoeing is available from 8 a.m. until sunset daily.

Walk with a Naturalist in the Raven Glen Forest Preserve on Nov 13

The Lake County Forest Preserves are offering “Walk with a Naturalist” -- one-hour guided nature hikes held at a different forest preserve each month.

The November 13 Walk with a Naturalist will be held from 9:00-10:00am at the Raven Glen (Old Mill Grove) Forest Preserve, in north-central Lake County, between the villages of Antioch and Old Mill Creek.

Fall Wheel Ride in Kenosha County October 2

Enjoy the fall colors just across the Wisconsin border at the “Fall Wheel Ride” in Kenosha County. Sponsored by Kenosha County Executive Jim Kreuser and Kenosha County Parks, three distances are available for bike riders of all abilities.

All routes converge at Petrifying Springs Park, Pavilion 1, where snacks (including hot apple cider!), safety checks and tips, and bike-related activities and education will be provided from 10am until Noon.

Lake County Forest Preserves offer frugal forest fitness hikes this fall

The Lake County Forest Preserves are offering a series of Forest Fitness fast-paced group fitness hikes on Saturdays this fall.

Each hike will take place at a different forest preserve. Registration is not required. The fee is $1 for Lake County residents and $2 for non-residents.
