Walgreens opens new flagship store in the Chicago Loop

On Tuesday Walgreens will open a new two-story, state-of-the-art store at State and Randolph at 151 N. State in Chicago’s Loop. The store will offer a number of expanded and innovative features not typically seen in a drugstore.

Sweet Potatoes with Maple Syrup

This week’s Wellness Recipe is a recommendation of the Lake County Health Department, and uses the same main ingredient as last week’s recipe: Sweet Potatoes. Sweet potatoes are an excellent source of vitamin A, vitamin C and calcium, and a good source of folate and fiber.

It’s good chili weather! This recipe is great for vegetarians, and the beans and veggies make a great source of fiber. It has 10 grams of fiber per serving (daily recommendation is 20-35 grams), 12 grams of sugar and 9 grams of protein.

Gluten free dessert tastings at Chicagoland Whole Foods

Chicagoland Whole Foods Markets will be hosting a series of gluten free dessert tastings from Tia’s Bakery over the next two weeks.

“I am excited to bring our delicious desserts to Chicago to give the Windy City a taste of Tia’s ‘Scrumptious and Totally Healthy’ treats,” notes Tia’s Bakery Founder Paul King.

Tia’s Bakery products are gluten free, wheat free, yeast free and soy free, with a low glycemic index. All Tia’s cookies and their Carob Truffles are vegan also.
